A 17 year old High School student joined a group of drinking age boys for a ride in the friends Cadillac Escalade. All of the boys were drinking in the car. While not intoxicated the driver used lost control of the Escalade on a turn while driving too fast for conditions. None of the boys were wearing seatbelts. The Student’s mother was horrified, she had no idea her son was out with the older driver. Her son was not wearing a seat belt and fortunately only suffered soft tissue injury. She contacted her insurance company only to be told they could not help her as there was insurance on the Escalade. Because the limits of coverage were low she was told she could only get $7,500.00 for her sons injury. She then contacted The Dunnion Law Firm and for the first time was advised that she could make a claim against her own insurance company based on underinsured motorist coverage. She was very happy when The Dunnion Law Firm collected over $100,000.00 in general damages plus medical payments. They will use the funds for college.
