"Like A Good Neighbor" - Not This Time!

"Like A Good Neighbor" - Not This Time!

Posted By The Dunnion Law Firm || 24-Oct-2012

On October 23, 2011, a Fresno man was riding his bicycle to the store when he was hit by a driver in a large sport utility vehicle, causing the man to be thrown from his bicycle and land on the street with obvious injuries. Emergency personnel arrived very quickly and stabilized the client’s severe right ankle fracture, facial lacerations and head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room where the severe right ankle fracture was confirmed. The client underwent surgery to stabilize and repair the serious fractures in his right ankle by implantation of metal screws and metal plates. A month later, he developed a severe bone infection in his right lower leg and right ankle, and was told by the surgeon that he might need a below the knee amputation. Upon hearing this life changing information, the man became frightened and called the Dunnion Law Firm for help. The man told the Dunnion Law Firm that he never heard a peep from the driver’s insurance company for the two months after he was hit. The Dunnion Law Firm investigated the matter and found out that the owners of the vehicle that hit him had a policy of insurance in the amount of $100,000.00. Interestingly enough, the driver of the SUV who hit the man failed to notify State Farm, that he had hit a bicyclist and hurt him so badly that the bicyclist was taken to the hospital in an ambulance! After initially refusing to make a settlement offer and battling with the Dunnion Law Firm for seven more months, State Farm finally agreed to pay the policy limits of $100,000.00 and the case settled.

Did State Farm live up to their television advertisements that profess "like a good neighbor State Farm is there" in this man’s case? Not this time. It wasn’t until after the man hired the Dunnion Law Firm to look out for his best interests did State Farm care enough to open a claim for the man, then denied it and practically forced the man to file a lawsuit against State Farm’s policyholders. If this is State Farm’s "good neighbor" policy when you or a loved one is injured through no fault of your own, call the Dunnion Law Firm first thing for help.
