Five friends decided to go camping in Kings Canyon National Park, planning on a relaxing, fun weekend away from their demanding jobs. After arriving at their campsite and setting up their tents, they enjoyed some time by the river a short drive away. When it got late, the group jumped in the truck of the defendant driver for a ride back to the campsite. The driver, however, had been drinking, and began speeding along the dark windy roads of the National Park at dangerous speeds. He suddenly lost control of his truck, and attempted to return to the road. In the process he overcorrected, sending his truck across the road and into a boulder. The vehicle flipped violently, ejecting numerous passengers.
The Dunnion Law Firm worked with federal agents to obtain justice for their clients who were hurt at the hands of the reckless, intoxicated driver. Concurrent to the federal criminal prosecution of the driver, the Dunnion Law Firm was able to quickly obtain a $300,000 policy limits offer from the defendant’s insurance company. When, under the terms of the settlement, some of these funds needed to be shared with a party injured in the accident yet not represented by the Dunnion Law Firm, the Dunnion Law Firm attorneys negotiated for their clients to take 95% of the amount to be shared.
Unfortunately for the parties not represented by the Dunnion Law Firm, they walked away with a severely reduced settlement due to the Dunnion Law Firm’s aggressive advocacy for their clients.
