A cook at Chukchansi Casino outside Madera, California, was on her way home with two coworkers after a long day in the kitchen. As they drove toward Madera on Highway 41, a drunk driver suddenly swerved over the double yellow line, smashing into the victims head-on.
The collision was catastrophic. Of the Chukchansi employees, one was killed upon impact. Another suffered complex heel and ankle fractures that left her with a permanent limp and unable to work on her feet ever again. The matter settled with the drunk driver’s insurance company for $2,950,000, providing ample compensation to the family of the decedent, and allowing her injured colleague to never have to work again.
