It was a simple, relatively minor accident. A man ran a stop sign and struck
the driver door of a woman’s car. She did not think her injuries
were too severe so she declined an ambulance and headed home. The next
day, she felt like she had been run over by a truck. She went to the emergency
room and was told the impact was not too severe so she must not really
be hurt. Over the next week, her symptoms dramatically worsened and she
developed severe headaches, dizziness, nausea and she felt like her head
was full of cobwebs.
Over the following year, the woman went to multiple doctors, therapists,
chiropractors, she tried everything. Her allergies to medications made
it difficult for her to take prescriptions so she suffered through. All
the providers told her they believed her, but, none really documented
in their records what was wrong with her and nobody helped her get well.
The insurance company said it was all in her head and nothing was really
wrong, offering to pay her medical bills of $20,000.00 and not much more.
The Dunnion Law Firm was then able to piece all of the records together
from the many different providers, consulted with several of the treating
doctors, and obtained reports that showed a much more accurate picture
of the woman’s injuries. Suit was filed and immediately thereafter,
the insurance carrier tendered the $100,000.00 policy limits.
