On April 21, 2014, a twenty-one year old full time student at Sacramento
State was riding with her boyfriend in his 1997 Nissan Altima. They were
westbound on State Route 160 when the boyfriend hit a puddle and the car
hydroplaned. The boyfriend was able to recover but hit another puddle
immediately afterwards which sent him off the right shoulder of the highway.
This was very frightening to the young woman and she had banged her head
as well as suffered minor bruising and pain to her lower back. She recovered
quickly from the trauma however, she remained anxious about riding in
cars for months after the accident. Prior to this accident she was a healthy
female who was known to be soft spoken and quiet student who did not drink
and was a very normal student. When she contacted her boyfriend’s
insurance company, she was rebuffed and advised that her case had little
value. It was at this time that she contacted The Dunnion Law Firm. The
Dunnion Law Firm established treatment for her and collected the medical
records from the date of the accident. The attorneys thereafter presented
a demand for the policy limits of her boyfriend’s policy for $50,000.00.
Confronted with this evidence the insurance company capitulated and tendered
the full policy limits. The Dunnion Law Firm then negotiated the young
woman’s bills leaving her with an acceptable and welcomed settlement.
