Wrongful Death Lawsuit Settles for $230,000.

In November 2015, a pedestrian was struck by a truck and killed as she crossed Road 16 in Madera. The Traffic Collision Report placed the woman at fault because a witness claimed she ran into the road in front of the truck. The autopsy report detected methamphetamine in the woman’s blood.
The Dunnion Law Firm represented the deceased woman’s three minor children, who live with their father out of state. Court records reported that the woman had abandoned her children several years before, and the insurance company for the driver argued that our clients did not have any relationship with their mother.
Most attorneys would never take a case with this many bad facts, but The Dunnion Law Firm is not afraid of difficult fights. We pointed out to the insurance company that we won a six-figure jury verdict last year in a wrongful death case in Fresno County with similar facts. The Dunnion Law Firm convinced the insurance company that, if the driver had been paying attention, he would have seen the woman and avoided the collision. The insurance company also agreed that every life has value, and the children had lost their opportunity to rekindle their relationship with their mother later in life.
