A man from Auberry, California, was walking in Fresno with his father after enjoying lunch together at a nearby restaurant. As the two walked down the sidewalk of Blackstone Avenue, the defendant, a young driver from out of state, suddenly pulled out from a parking lot. Hurrying to cross the sidewalk and enter Blackstone Avenue, the driver didn’t see the victims directly in front of her. She slammed into them both, sending our client up onto the hood, then down into the asphalt. The impact of her bumper into his foot caused an ankle fracture which required surgery the client couldn’t afford.
At the time of the collision, the victim was without health insurance, and could not find an orthopedic surgeon willing to repair his broken ankle. However, within days of meeting his attorney, The Dunnion Law Firm was able to assist him in getting into a top orthopedic surgeon to repair the fracture. The defendant and her insurance company initially refused to cooperate and even reveal the size of the insurance policy available. But, with the threat of litigation hanging over them, agreed to pay the entire $250,000 insurance policy to the man.
