On Saturday, September 24, 2015, a young woman and her boyfriend were riding as passengers in a friend’s car. They were headed northbound on Highway 99 just north of Manning Avenue in the City of Fowler. Suddenly, a car pulled in to their lane and the friend braked hard and steered to the right, careening off roadway and rolling the vehicle. The young woman’s boyfriend sustained only minor injuries. Unfortunately, she did not fair as well. She suffered a broken pelvis, as well as other traumatic injuries. The vehicle that had swerved into their lane causing the accident fled the scene and was never seen again. The young woman then presented a claim to the driver’s insurance policy advising it was not the driver’s fault that this car had swerved into their lane and caused them to steer off the road. The insurance company initially told them that without a defendant, there was no claim to be made. She then hired The Dunnion Law Firm and the attorneys took over documenting witnesses, exact facts of the accident, and preparing statement for the insurance carrier. Faced with this evidence, the insurance company agreed this was an uninsured motorist claim and tendered its $100,000.00 policy limits for the injured woman.
