Broken window cuts a man's wrist and he gets $100,000.

Our client was at a local laundromat washing clothes with his pregnant fiancé. He went outside to the car and came back and tapped on the window to say “I love you” to his fiancée inside. Suddenly, the glass shattered all over his hand cutting his wrist severely. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. There were no employees at the laundromat to help him and when he reported it to the owners, they did not care about him. In fact, their insurance company blamed him for causing the accident. The client contacted The Dunnion Law Firm and we took the case not knowing anything other than this poor individual had a serious wrist injury.

The first thing the insurance company told us was that our client punched the window and caused the accident. They claimed to have a video but refused to provide it. We immediately filed suit and obtained the video and it was clear – our client barely tapped the window! We ended up litigating the case because the other side refused to accept liability. As we approached trial in Visalia, the owners had a new theory – our client tripped and fell into the window causing his own injuries! Because of this, they refused to settle. However, the parties mediated the case on the eve of trial and were able to reach a very favorable settlement for our client.
