Young adults killed in San Jose crash identified

Two people killed in a weekend crash were young adults from San Jose.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday identified Felipe Bergara, 20, and Marina Jennings, 19, as the two people killed Sunday night.

At about 5 p.m. Sunday an Infiniti was heading west on Yerba Buena Road, near Edenwood Drive, when the driver swerved to pass another vehicle, San Jose Police said. The Infiniti struck the curb in the right lane and rolled into a pole, police said.

Declared dead at the scene were the driver, Bergara, and Jennings, the right front passenger. Another male passenger was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

Speed may have been a factor, police said, but it was unclear so far if alcohol was a factor.
