Dog Bite Victim Awarded $300,000

A San Francisco bay area man hired the Dunnion Law Firm to represent him in a vicious pitbull-mixed breed dog bite case involving a finger amputation. Our client agreed to help out a neighbor by walking his pitbull-mixed breed dog while the neighbor was in the hospital. Our client was never told why the neighbor was in the hospital. After walking the dog, the dog snapped at our client and bit off the tip of his ring finger. The dog ingested both the finger and our client's wedding band. Later, the dog was euthanized and the client's finger-tip was excreted by the dead dog. The wedding band was never recovered. Following this savage, unprovoked amputation by the vicious animal, our client was rushed to the hospital and was shocked to find that the same neighbor was at the same hospital to undergo plastic surgery because he also had been bitten in the face by this same dog which he owned!  As the case progressed against this dog-owner, the Dunnion Law Firm uncovered that there had been several prior bites by this dog and there were multiple animal control reports regarding the various incidents. Despite this animal's vicious history, the dog-owner's insurance company refused to pay an appropriate amount in damages to our client. The Dunnion Law Firm filed suit and aggressively litigated the case against the Defendant dog-owner, his attorney, and the insurance company. After winning crucial motions against the defendant's attorney and persuading the court to sanction the defendant's attorney for his behavior, the Dunnion Law Firm continued to pursue the Defendant in a videotaped deposition. Two weeks after pummeling the Defendant in the deposition, the insurance company offered up the Defendant's homeowner's policy limits in the amount of $300,000.00, in exchange for dismissing the lawsuit against the Defendant. The client is now far away from his terrible neighbor, in a new house fully purchased by the proceeds from his settlement obtained by the Dunnion Law Firm. The Dunnion Law Firm will always battle insurance companies, their attorneys, and negligent dog-owners, and obtain maximum settlement value for our clients when they have been attacked by vicious dogs.
