It was a beautiful day for boating at the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area when a teenage girl and her boy friend accepted an invitation to ride on an inner tube in tow. Unfortunately, they did not know that the adult operating the boat had been drinking. He drove the boat at speeds in excess of 30 mph turning back and forth to whip the tube from side to side. Jerking violently on the rope tow the tube flipped up in the area causing the teenagers heads to clash. The young girl suffered facial fractures. Because the adult did not report the accident his insurance company refused to compensate the minor’s parents for the cost of her facial surgery. The teenager’s mother hired The Dunnion Law firm to bring suit against the boat owner. Fortunately, the young woman recovered from her injuries and showed no residual scars or swelling. The Dunnion Law Firm brought the matter before the Superior Court of Kern County where a settlement in the amount of $100,000.00 was approved.
