Family Files Lawsuit Over Alleged Hazing Death
The family of a 19-year-old fraternity pledge killed in an apparent hazing incident has filed a lawsuit against Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina, the Theta Chi fraternity, fraternity members and university administrators. According to the lawsuit, Harrison Kowiak was forced to run back and forth through a dark field as other fraternity members repeatedly tackled him. Kowiak died of a severe brain hemorrhage as a result of the activity, the lawsuit claims. AP, Miami Herald 07/31/2009
