Bad Faith Insurance – Our Attorneys Help in Visalia, Merced, and Elsewhere in California

Insurance companies are notorious for treating their policyholders with disrespect and dishonesty. The equation is simple: they try to minimize the amount of money they pay in order to maximize their profits. Unfortunately, innocent people who depend on insurance benefits when they need them most are denied coverage or have their policies cancelled unfairly. Denied insurance claims can be frustrating, especially if your insurance company has a history of denying claims in bad faith. This kind of bad faith on the part of insurance companies calls for an aggressive, non-compromising response from a law firm who knows where to hit them where it hurts. At The Dunnion Law Firm, our attorneys serving Visalia, Merced, and the rest of central California forcefully punish insurance companies who try to take advantage of our clients. Call us today at 1-800-DUNNION for a free no-nonsense consultation and case evaluation.

What is bad faith insurance?

Every insurance company is happy to collect monthly premiums, but when the time comes to pay for expensive medical procedures made necessary by car accidents, motorcycle accidents, and other tragedies, these companies never want to pay as they promised. When a person purchases a policy from an insurance company, they pay their premium in exchange for the insurance company’s promise to compensate them in full for their expenses and damages in the event of a loss. Unfortunately, all too often, they end up receiving little or nothing of the compensation they were promised.

Insurance companies find ways to deny or delay your claims even if you can show that you have the proper coverage. An insurance company can commit insurance bad faith in a variety of ways. For example, it is bad faith for an insurance company to continually place barriers in the way of its insured to delay payment of an insurance claim. These barriers can take the form of multiple examinations under oath by the insurance company's attorney or requiring the insured to repeatedly prepare the same and/or similar documents with respect to the insurance claim. It is insurance bad faith for an insurance company to refuse to pay portions of an insurance claim that are undisputed in an effort to force the insured to settle the entire insurance claim for less than a fair value. It is bad faith for an insurance company to fail to promptly and thoroughly investigate an insurance claim, or to only investigate options in order to deny the insurance claim rather than ways to pay the claim. It is bad faith for an insurance company to refuse to pay portions of an insurance claim based upon biased experts that are supposed to be independent. It is bad faith for an insurance company to require waiver of rights or releases, or to place restrictions that are not contained in the insurance contract, prior to paying portions of an insurance claim that are not in dispute. Simply put, it is bad faith for an insurance company to place a higher value on the insurance company's own interests than the interests of the insurance company's insured, and to treat its insured unfairly so that the insurance company can receive a higher profit.

If you believe your insurance company is delaying payment on your insurance claim or your insurance company has wrongfully denied payment on your insurance claim, you have a right to seek independent representation with an insurance bad faith attorney and to seek compensation for insurance bad faith from your insurance company. The bad faith insurance attorneys at our firm handle cases for Visalia, Merced, and California residents whose benefits have been discounted, delayed, or denied by providers who don’t want to cover expensive care or meet their promised obligations. Companies who practice bad faith may simply act unreasonably, or they may be downright dishonest. Regardless, our bad faith insurance attorneys recover large cash settlements for clients from insurance companies who have failed to keep their promises to their own insured.
