Dunnion Law Increases Recovery by $360,000 in Accident Caused by CHP – $450,000

A 47-year-old woman was driving her pickup truck on a rural road when she passed a California Highway Patrol vehicle parked on the side of the road, finishing a traffic stop. As she passed, the California Highway Patrol vehicle made a U-turn in front of her, hitting her and causing her to go off the roadway.

The collision caused the driver to suffer serious neck injuries, which required a 3-level cervical fusion, as well as a surgery on her right shoulder for a torn rotator cuff. California Highway Patrol faulted their own driver for the crash.

The driver’s initial attorney recommended settling for $90,000, and filed suit in the wrong county. When Dunnion Law took the case, they fixed the issues, litigated the case and were able to secure $450,000, a result that gave the driver more than 40 times more net money to her.
